Listing Standards

How listings are reviewed before publication.

Listings reviewed before publication.

Every submission is reviewed by our team before it appears in the public directory. Inclusion does not constitute certification, licensing, endorsement, or approval by The Black Agrarian, USDA, or any government agency.

Who can list

Producer listings are for farmers, growers, and producers who self-identify as Black. Organization / support-network listings are a separate category for groups that materially serve Black growers, food producers, or agricultural communities.

  • Black farmers, growers, and land stewards
  • Black-owned agricultural businesses
  • Black-led or Black-serving support organizations (separate category)

Review process

Our team reviews each submission for completeness and eligibility before approving it for the public directory. This is not a comprehensive verification of all claims — it is a basic review to maintain directory quality.

Verification labels

When a listing carries a trust label, it means our team completed that specific review. We never show a single "Verified" badge to imply all checks. The labels are:

  • Email confirmed
  • Listing ownership claimed
  • Identity reviewed
  • Business information reviewed
  • License independently checked

Listings without any trust label are self-attested by the owner. Resale, repackage, drop-ship, brokering, or white-label operations are not the right fit for this directory.

Grounds for removal

  • Listing does not meet eligibility criteria
  • Information is false or misleading
  • Request from the listing owner
  • Verified complaint from a community member
